Alla hieman tietoa siitä, mitä kisoja maailmanlaajuisesti poolissa tullaan järjestämään WPA:n alaisuudessa vuonna 2009 ja kuinka pelaajalla on mahdollisuus päästä mukaan.


How to qualify for World and other Events:

Each year the EPBF players can qualify over EPBF events ( EC’s and Euro Tour events ) for the
different WPA World events. In order to be as transparent as possible the EPBF will publish the
nomination criteria in a way that all players can see how they could qualify for certain events. It could
be that during the year new WPA events are added. The EPBF will then decide via a board decision
how to allocate quota’s. The situation for the events in 2009 are:

MEN’S EVENTS:
WPA WC 8‐Ball ( tournament will be held normally in the beginning of the year)
Total Price money: US $ 200.000
Total amount of participants at the event: 64
Nr. 1 to Nr. 8 off the world ranking.
EPBF Quota 14.
EPBF nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 to 8 of the 2008 European Championships 8‐Ball
• Nr. 1 to 4 of the European Ranking date 01.01.2008.
• Qualifying event for 2 spots ( event will be held 14.02.2009 & 15.02.2009 )
Double spots will be added to the qualifier and the Euro Tour Ranking.

WPA World Pool Masters ( Tournament will be held 08.05.2009 / 10.05.2009 in Las vegas )
Total Price Money: US $ 62.000
Matchroom has plans to change the format in a open tournament. This is not decided yet. If the old
format is in place the EPBF will receive the normal quota.
Quota: 4
EPBF nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 to 4 of the European Ranking after the Euro Tour in France. (February 2009)

WPA WC Straight Pool ( tournament will be held normally at the end of August of each year)
Total Prize Money: US $ 30.000,00 added
Entrance fee: US $ 525,00
Quota: 17
EPBF nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 to 8 of the 2008 & 2009 European Championships straight Pool.
• European Champion Seniors 14.1 2008 & 2009.
The experience in the past show us that there is not much interest to participate at this event. We
will nominate the players and if they don’t want to participate the spot will be returned to the
organizer.

Qatar Open 9‐Ball ( WPA Sanctioned event / will be held 27.06.2008 till 05.07.2008 )
Total Prize Money: US $ 200.000
Quota: 32
EPBF nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 to 8 of the 2007 European Championships 9‐Ball
• European Champion 2007 9‐Ball Seniors
• European Champion 2007 9‐Ball Juniors
• Nr.1 to 16 of the European Ranking after Euro Tour Italy ( April )
• Qualifying event ( the venue and date will be determined) – 6 Spots.
( This is how the EPBF nominated in 2008. The WPA has not received any information from the Qatar
organizer how to allocate in 2009. In general we know that the world ranking will be involved but it
might not affect the EPBF quota. When the quota will be announced the definite rules will be send
out. )

World Cup of Pool ( Matchroom Event )
Total Prize Money: T.B.A.
Quota: T.B.A.
EPBF nomination criteria will be announced after we received the quota.

WPA WC 9‐Ball ( Tournament will be held from ????????? )
Total Prize Money: US $ 400.000
Quota: No fixed quota (categories)

Because of the fact that the players were nominated for the WPA WC 9‐Ball 2008 but the event
didn’t take place, the EPBF will use the list of qualified players from 2008 if this event will take place
in 2009 and if Matchroom agree.
In case that the nomination criteria will be changed dramatically, we will determine at that point
what to do.

Mosconi Cup ( Matchroom event ) which will be held 15.12.2009 till 19.12.2009.
Total Prize Money; US $ 150.000
Quota: No fixed Quota.
Matchroom nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 ranked player on the European Ranking after the Euro Tour Dynamic Netherlands Open
2009.
• 3 players out of the European Ranking – ranked within first 16.
• 1 player chosen by Matchroom

WC 10‐Ball (Tournament will be held in 29.09.2008 till 05.10.2008
Total Prize Money; US $ 400.000
Nr. 1 to Nr. 24 of the WPA World Ranking
Quota: 40 Spots
EPBF nominates as follows:
• Nr. 1 to 30 of the European Ranking after the Dynamic German Open 2009.
• Nr. 1 to 8 of the 2009 European Championships 9‐Ball
• 2 spots Qualifying event (venue and dates will be determined)
If there are double spots they will be divided to the Qualifiers and the Euro Tour Ranking.

The WPA announced a few more events for 2009. These events are China Open, Abu Dhabi Open, Phillipine Open. The negotiations are still going on and the quota are not determined yet. The EPBF will inform as soon as we know what the quota are the EPBF receive.

In case of the women events 2009 there are 3 events scheduled. The events are: WC 9‐Ball, Amway Cup & China Open. The EPBF board will discuss the quota for these events at the board meeting in January 2009 and will inform the players and federations right after the meeting.
